"South African theologian Derek Morphew, author of Breakthrough: Discovering The Kingdom, has provided possibly one of the best works on the in-breaking Kingdom of God as announced, demonstrated, and commissioned by Jesus."

"Discovering the Kingdom is an extremely thorough, yet very readable, exploration of the theology and praxis-implications of the Kingdom of God. Morphew’s impetus for writing was his own observation, confirmed by leaders from many different countries, “(w)e need to lay this foundation once again. The subject is so fundamental to Scripture and to our spiritual genesis that we cannot allow a single generation, church, or group of churches to miss it."

"I was first exposed to Derek in the early ‘90s at an international Vineyard Pastors’ Conference. Derek had the unenviable 8:30 a.m. devotional slot in which he was speaking on the Kingdom of God. Even then I think the attitude was somewhat a “been there done that” kind of response - after all Kingdom theology was our staple diet!
Just 200 people out of over 2,000 attended the first of three sessions by this relatively unknown South African. Two days later, the attendance numbered over 1,100! Enough said. When Derek speaks on the breakthrough of God’s kingdom, he does so with such authority and presence that it ignites passionate belief and expectation."

"This book is in my opinion the best book on the subject of the kingdom of God written by a contemporary theologian. Ladd's works are great, but Dr. Morphew explains the kingdom and it's implications for today's Christian life - a life of inviting God's kingdom to come.
Great stuff."

"Three of four years ago we went to a Vineyard conference in Chattanooga. It was sort of a joint conference, so Ang and I had to choose: go to the worship leaders part or the church planters part. We chose the latter, even though part of me really wanted to just hang out with a bunch of musicians all day. If my memory is correct it ended up being about 20 or so of us--a nice intimate bunch. Some were old school planters. Some were in the early stages or about to launch. Some were at other places of interest or planning, such as us.
After some worship Thor introduced the speaker, Derek Morphew, a Vineyard pastor, teacher, and author from South Africa. Thankfully, at the time I had no earthly idea who he was, so I had no immature feelings of rapture in being in the presence of someone like him. Let's just say he's been around quite a while and has been involved with God in some pretty amazing works. He was there to teach on the theology of the kingdom of God, the foundation of Vineyard theology and practice. I had already learned a good deal through VLI and had labored (lovingly!) through some seminal books by Ladd. I was astounded and excited by Morphew's explanation of the kingdom! To date, that 45-60 minute talk is the most concise, clear, thrilling, and life-filled teaching I have ever heard on the kingdom."

"So, as many people know, I recently joined the masters program John has been a part of this past year. If you have to see me or talk to me, I'm sure you'll be hearing a lot more about it, as I am finding myself really blown away by this stuff! I can understand why John's been so uncontrollably excited about it all, and I find myself unable to even truly express much of it yet. Some of it seems so foundational that I am shocked at how profound and revelational it seems to me! It brings framework for so much! I mean, I've always thought of myself as having a decent grasp on and well-thought through theology, but this is HUGE! Of course, I've always believed in the Trinity, but understanding that deeply and the significance of that as a foundation to all--Wow! And kingdom theology. Truly just consuming everything in me right now as I read and process it. We have a class focused on healing this weekend, and I feel such anticipation for it! There is no way to really talk about healing without kingdom theology."
